Tonight's live blog will be from the West Mifflin-Thomas Jefferson game. I'll have score updates and reports from other games in the area. If you have a score or note, you can "tweet" it with #wpial or send to me @mwhiteburgh. Email is mwhite@post-gazette.com

First, some news on the WPIAL coaching front.

Chartiers Valley football coach Chris Saluga will coach his final game tonight. Saluga already has given the school a letter of resignation and informed his team of his resignation, effective after the Colts play West Allegheny. Chartiers Valley is 2-6 and out of playoff contention.

"I don't know how else to say it, except that it's just time for me to move on and the program to move on," Saluga said.

Saluga did an excellent job in turning around Chartiers Valley's program. When he took over in 2001, the team had been above .500 only three times in the previous 25 years and made the playoffs only twice.

But over the next 12 seasons, Chartiers Valley made the playoffs eight times and finished above .500 four times. The Colts were 5-5 three other times. From 2007 through 2009, Chartiers Valley was 23-8. Twice, the Colts won eight games in a season, the second-most in school history.

Saluga's career record is 60-60 heading into tonight's game.

He said he hopes to coach again in the near future.

"Absolutely I intend on at least being an assistant coach somewhere," Saluga said. "If the right opportunity presents itself, I'd be interested, definitely."
