The number of high school three-sport athletes has certainly dwindled in the past few decades. Some athletes even frown on playing two sports.
Then there is Brock Shannon. He is a two-sport standout - in the same season.
Shannon plays football and soccer for Charleroi High School. The three days he had last week were unforgettable.
Last Thursday, he had a hat trick in a soccer victory against California. The next night, Charleroi's football team lost to Burgettstown, 62-18, but Shannon was a bright spot. He rushed 220 yards on 33 carries and scored twice. He also returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown and had 359 total yards offense.
But Shannon wasn't done yet. The next day (last Saturday), he scored another goal in a soccer game against Washington.
Now that's a two-sport athlete.
Wade invited to All-American Bowl
Clairton's Lamont Wade (pictured) has been invited to play in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio in 2017. Wade is a junior who tweeted tonight about the invite. He is ranked the No. 5 junior in the country by Rivals.com.
There are a handful of national all-star games now. It's getting like college recruiting. The games have to recruit kids to their games because they want the best players.
