It was reported that Armstrong's Zane Dudek surpassed 5,000 career yards rushing Friday night, but it turns out he was one of two WPIAL runners to reach the milestone that night.
Clairton's Lamont Wade also reached 5,000 career yards when he rushed for 214 against Springdale. Wade is the 18th runner in WPIAL history to run for 5,000.
Wade (pictured) is the second Clairton player to run for 5,000 yards. Tyler Boyd had 5,755 from 2009-12. Clairton is only the second school to have two 5,000 yards rushers. Aliqiuippa's Chico Williams and Dravon Henry ran for 5,000 two decades apart.
WPIAL rules Imani players ineligible
The WPIAL today ruled Asante Watkins and Samuel Fairley ineligible to play football at Imani Christian after transferring from University Prep. The WPIAL made the ruling after a hearing with Watkins and Fairley today, claiming the duo transferred for athletic intent. University Prep had contested the transfer.
Watkins and Fairley transferred to Imani last month only two days after the WPIAL ruled Kenny Robinson eligible to play at Imani after transferring from University Prep. The WPIAL contended Watkins and Fairley transferred to follow either Imani assistant coach LaRoi Johnson and/or Robinson. Johnson is a former University Prep assistant. During Robinson's hearing a few weeks ago, University Prep told the WPIAL that more players might transfer from University Prep if Robinson is made eligible.
PIAA and WPIAL rules state a player transferring to follow a coach or a player is grounds for ineligibility.
